The Regenerative Farm Project

Food, Water, Power, Fuel... Sovereignty ❤️

At Alma Libre, we believe in harmony & balance—nurturing land, community, and creativity through regenerative practices. Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant ecosystem where every seed sown, every structure built, and every person welcomed contributes to a wholesome, living farm experience.

The 87 Hectare Regenerative Farm Project

"Join us in reclaiming 87 hectares of land once a thriving village surrounded by rivers, natural springs and waterfalls ON the land. The land has been ravaged by a failed oil palm plantation—18,000 palms planted, 10,000 defunct. Together, we’ll capture biodiesel from the healthy palms, upcycle the others into furniture, artisan crafts, and décor, and rebuild a lush food forest.

Be part of restoring indigenous ecosystems and returning this land to its original purpose: nurturing life and providing a home for our entire tribe."

Co-Created Farm Experiences & Workshops

Everyone can contribute: Residents, Visitors, Work/Stay & Practitioners—seed saving, soil prep, planting, harvest, animal care, off-grid maintenance, beautification & pollinator stewardship—to keep Alma Libre thriving.

Regenerative Food Production

Our farm is a living permaculture ecosystem—heirloom-only fruits, veggies, herbs and flowers grown 100% organically, with natural pest control and no chemicals. All waste becomes compost or animal feed, closing the loop on abundance.

By Year 3 we’ll feed 150 residents indefinitely with the ability to sustain 200 people in the event of a crisis.
All surplus will be shared with Single Mothers in the area. Waste will be cycled into animal feed, closing the loop.

Key Farming Systems

  • Orchards & Food Forest:
Spanning two hectares, our layered canopy of fruit and nut trees is interwoven with shrubs, vines and groundcover to mimic a natural ecosystem. Deep swales harvest spring water into mulched basins, feeding roots year-round. Fallen fruit and prunings nourish livestock and compost piles, closing nutrient loops while delivering 66 000 kg of tropical yields by Year 3.

  • Heritage Seed Banking & Reseeding Program:
In our climate-controlled seed vault we store heirloom varieties of tomato, bean, squash, chili, corn and more. Each season’s harvest is cleaned, cataloged and re-propagated in the nursery—ensuring true-to-type genetics, local adaptation and resilience in every seed cycle.

  • Aquaponics & Hydroponics Loops:
Our 500 ft² greenhouse merges fish and plant production: tilapia effluent nourishes beds of lettuce, kale, basil, microgreens, tomatoes and cucumbers. Water recirculates through biofilters, cutting usage by over 90 % and enabling year-round harvests that feed both community and kitchens.

  • Animal Integration & Feed System:
Free-range poultry, heritage pigs, rabbits and tilapia ponds are integrated under orchard canopies. Animals graze on duckweed-rich algae frames and crop residues; their manure returns to our compost and soil, boosting fertility and supporting 13 040 kg of protein annually.

  • Apiary & Honey Production:
Ten beehives nestled in pollinator gardens blanket the farm with buzzing wings. Our hives will be home to Melipona beecheii stingless bees, supplying honey and beeswax each year, essential for farm-to-table breakfasts and handcrafted balms, while ensuring robust pollination across all crops.

  • Flower Gardens & Wildflower Meadows:
Borders of marigold, zinnia, nasturtium and native wildflowers line paths and fields, creating living fences that deter pests and invite butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. Seasonal blooms uplift the landscape and provide cut flowers for events and markets.

  • Bird Habitat & Wildlife Corridors:
Strategically placed nest boxes, brush piles and water features form safe havens for over 50 bird species—from raptors to songbirds. Their natural pest-control services reduce chemical inputs and deepen our connection to the local ecosystem.

  • Food Production Facilities:
Our central kitchen, cold-storage room, solar dryer racks and canning line transform fresh harvests into preserves and sauces. This on-site hub ensures year-round access to both fresh and value-added products.

  • - Beverage Production Facilities: On-site fermentation hall with stainless-steel tanks (5,000 L capacity), barrel-aging room, bottling line and cold storage—transforming our orchard and food-forest fruits into artisanal ciders and banana beers.

  • Storage Facilities:
A root cellar maintains cool, humid conditions for tubers and bulbs, while bulk-goods sheds house grains, pulses and dried herbs. Refrigerated units keep perishable produce at peak freshness, extending shelf life and reducing waste.

  • Long-Term Preservation & Emergency Reserve

High-capacity solar dehydrators crafted from reclaimed wood and stainless-steel mesh; a hand-built hot-water bath canning line using glass jars sealed with beeswax and linen covers; vacuum sealing with beeswax-coated cotton wraps and glass bell jars; ceramic crocks for fermentation and dry storage; an underground root cellar for tubers; and an on-site earthenware seed vault housing hundreds of heirloom varieties in glass vials and paper envelopes. This plastic-free system secures a full year’s supply of fruits, vegetables, herbs, staples and seeds—safeguarding the farm against any catastrophic crop failure.

  • Workshop & Equipment Sheds:
The carpenter’s workshop, mechanic’s bay and propagation greenhouse support build-days, seedling starts and machinery upkeep. Tool cribs and parts inventories keep every project—from fence repairs to greenhouse expansions—running smoothly.

  • Landscaping & Communal Spaces:
Meandering gravel paths connect demonstration gardens, wildflower clearings and natural amphitheaters. Communal firepits, picnic groves and shaded seating nooks invite residents and guests to gather, learn and celebrate the living farm.
